Amazon is to create over 100 new technology jobs at its development centre in Dublin.
The expansion is supported by IDA Ireland.
The new jobs will include support engineers, systems engineers, network engineers, software developers and technical managers.
The centre in Kilmainham is home to a team of engineers and developers which support the design and deployment of Amazon websites.
The company came to Ireland in 2005 and now has hundreds employed at the development centre.
The new jobs were announced by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton today.
''Central to the Government's plans for jobs and growth is ensuring that we deepen and develop the impact of multi-national companies here, and we are determined to convince more companies to locate more high-end activities here and create more jobs,'' he said.
He said that over the recent few months, a string of top companies have decided to locate investment and jobs here, including PayPal and Accenture.
''The decision by Amazon to expand the technology centre illustrates Ireland's ability to attract high-calibre foreign direct investment and represents a key endorsement by one of the world's leading companies,'' commented the IDA's chief executive Barry O'Leary.
Meanwhile, 40 new jobs are to be created at a start-up company BuyersClub.ie over the next 12 to 18 months. The company, which is based in Blanchardstown in Dublin, helps small Irish producers to sell their products online at competitive prices.
And 20 new jobs have been promised by Carlow-based pharmaceutical company MSD. The company said it is investing €7m in its Carlow plant.
The new positions will be in engineering, automation and project management.
