An Indian company which provides business services and IT outsourcing is creating 200 new jobs in Kilkenny.

HCL Technologies and IDA Ireland have not yet confirmed final job numbers, but the company is actively recruiting.

The company said in a statement: "HCL Technologies can confirm it is working in partnership with the Industrial Development Agency (IDA) in the Republic of Ireland, to establish a European Customer Services Centre in Kilkenny and continue to invest in the local economy."

It said it had "ambitious plans" for the future of the company and was providing considerable investment over the next three years.

MasterCard plans 130 Dublin tech jobs

MasterCard is to create 130 jobs over the next four years as it locates a new global headquarters for its technology operations in Dublin.

Its expansion, which has been supported by IDA Ireland, will bring the total number of staff employed in Ireland to about 200.

MasterCard has had a presence here since it bought technology firm Orbiscom in 2008.

Work already carried out here includes research and development for new products and services in the payments sector of financial services.

The Dublin office has also been named MasterCard's centre of excellence for Java, a programming language in the e-commerce, mobile and payment technology areas.

Staff here will also work on new systems to help customers and cardholders set controls on the use of their credit, debit and pre-paid cards.

MasterCard said it was making this investment in Ireland because of the availability of local talent, and the Government's commitment to science, technology and innovation.
