Greencore chief executive Patrick Coveney has been elected as President of Dublin Chamber of Commerce.
Speaking at his appointment, Mr Coveney said the country's economic recovery will be driven by micro factors rather than macro ones.
He said that while many businesses are already confounding the macro difficulties and delivering growth and development, these successes are not being talked about.
He predicted that businesses would be at the heart of Ireland's economic recovery. He said that Irish companies are already working to be more innovative, more competitive and more in touch with their customers.
Mr Coveney urged that Dublin should be made more open to business. He said this could be achieved by deepening the confidence and support of the country's EU partners and other global relationships.
