Reckitt Benckiser, the household products and drugs group, logged soaring annual profits today boosted by emerging markets, in the first set of results under its new Indian-born chief executive.
The Anglo-Dutch maker of Dettol surface cleaners and Nurofen pain relief pills, said net profit rose 11% to €1.745 billion last year, compared with 2010.
Turnover swelled by 12% to €9.49 billion, boosted by the group's so-called "powerbrand" products that include Air Wick air fresheners, Finish dishwasher products and Strepsils throat lozenges.
"Reckitt Benckiser delivered another strong year in an increasingly tough environment," said chief executive Rakesh Kapoor, who took over in September following the shock resignation of predecessor Bart Becht.
"Growth was driven in particular by excellent growth in emerging markets, and growth in our powerbrands," he added.
