Central Bank Governor Patrick Honohan has said the bank is not planning to take any action against the Occupy Movement currently camped in front of the bank's headquarters in Dame Street in Dublin.

"We don't welcome their presence, but - as long as no-one is harmed or put in danger by them - we are not at present inclined to take action to have them moved away," Professor Honohan said.

Speaking at a book launch in Dublin, the Central Bank Governor also confirmed that the bank was looking for a new headquarters in the city to accommodate its increased staff numbers, though he said there could be scope to retain some central banking activities at the Dame Street site for a number of years.

Newspaper reports late last year suggested that the Central Bank could buy Anglo Irish Bank's unfinished headquarters on North Wall Quay in Dublin.
