The strike at EBS Building Society involving 300 members of the Unite trade union has been deferred by seven days to February 2.

This follows agreement by the union and the company to meet at the Labour Relations Commission tomorrow morning.

The union says the dispute dates back to December of last year when staff staged a one day protest over the withholding of a Christmas bonus.

"We have agreed to meet at the Labour Relations Commission and will hopefully make progress towards resolving this issue," said Unite's Colm Quinlan.
