The new President of the American Chamber of Commerce Ireland has said certain measures introduced in the Budget had imposed an extra burden on business and that any other measures that impose additional costs would be a cause for concern.
Peter O'Neill, who is the Managing Director of IBM Ireland, also said that failure to provide the skills that US companies require could damage Ireland's reputation.
However, Mr O'Neill said that Ireland is still regarded as a good place to do business and that sentiment towards the country in the US is very positive. He said the US probably sees Ireland more positively than we see ourselves.
However, he warned that more investment in education was required and that if US firms here struggle to find people to fill certain roles, it could damage Ireland's business reputation.
