Official figures show that the volume of manufacturing production recorded its biggest monthly increase in more than a year in October.
The Central Statistics Office said production in October rose by 7.3%, bouncing back from a 3.4% fall in September. This meant production was 13.5% higher than in October last year.
For the three months from August to October, there was a seasonally adjusted increase of 6.2% compared with the previous three months. The three-month figure is aimed at smoothing out volatility in the monthly figures.
For October, the modern sector - including technology and chemicals - recorded a 9.2% monthly increase, while the traditional sector was up just 0.9%.
