A company in Belfast which specialises in imaging equipment for the scientific and medical market has announced that it is creating 166 new jobs.

The positions at Andor Technology will focus on innovation. The 166 jobs follow an £18m sterling investment by the company.

Andor Technology was founded more than 20 years ago by three scientists from Queen's University in Belfast. It manufactures high-performance cameras used in research into cancer and Alzheimer's.

Dublin's Zapa to add 15 jobs

Dublin-based company Zapa Technology has said it will recruit 15 new staff after securing an investment of €1.1m.

The company also announced today a re-organisation that has seen Brendan McDonagh take a controlling shareholding in the business. It is supported by additional investment by Mr McDonagh, Tom Morrisroe and Delta Partners and two other private investors.

The investors have established an initial fund of €1.1m to support the recruitment of 15 new employees and investment in research and development, sales and marketing, and customer services in the next 12 months.

Zapa Technology was founded in 2009 and has an established customer base. Clients range from entire towns, which have implemented a community loyalty scheme to boost consumer spending in the local economy, to leading nationwide retail chains.
