Paul Cooke is to leave his position as managing director of Independent Star Ltd, which publishes the Irish Daily Star.
The group is 50% owned by Independent News and Media and 50% by Express Newspapers in the UK.
Ger Colleran, the editor of the newspaper, has been appointed to the position of managing director at the company.
Mr Cook was a founding executive of Independent Star Ltd in 1988 when he joined as head of finance. He was appointed to the board of the company in 1994 as finance director and became managing director in 2001. The Irish Daily Star currently has almost 400,000 readers a day.
