Official figures show that factory gate prices - prices of goods before they reach consumers - rose by 1.2% in September from August. This was the first monthly increase since May.
The Central Statistics Office said the biggest monthly increases were for computer and electronic products (2.3%), other food products (1.7%) and pharmaceutical products (1.5%). The 'other food' category includes bread and confectionery.
The CSO said factory gate prices rose at an annual rate of 0.2% in September.
A further breakdown showed that prices of building and construction materials edged up 0.2% in September, and increased by 2.3% over 12 months. Prices of copper pipes and fitting have jumped more than 26% in the past year.
Energy product prices rose 1% in the month, giving a 4.1% annual increase, while prices of petrol fuels were up 2.6% in September, giving an 11.2% annual increase.
