E-net says comunications market "intensifying"

E-net, the company responsible for managing Ireland's fibre-optic metropolitan area networks, has reported strong growth in revenues and profits for the year to the end of April.

It said revenues rose by 26% from a year earlier to €17.5m, while after-tax profits were €2.9m, up from €1.7m a year earlier.

E-net currently employs 51 staff and counts telecoms companies such as BT, Vodafone, Magnet and UPC among its customers.

The company said the market for communications services was intensifying, with other fixed line and wireless network providers actively targeting the high-bandwidth wholesale market.
