The Labour Relations Commission says it received the highest level of complaints in 2010, when 15,671 separate complaints were made by individuals to the Rights Commissioners.

The Labour Relations Commission issued its annual report for last year today. It shows that only 14 industrial disputes which lead to the loss of 6,600 days at work occurred in the Irish economy last year.

'It is a remarkable fact that even in the face of a severe economic crisis the actors in Irish employments continue to work together to resolve issues constructively without recourse to industrial action,' commented Kieran Mulvey, the chief executive of the Commission.

He said this is in sharp contrast to other European countries.
