Media group UTV has seen an overall revenue increase on continuing operations of 3% in the four months to the end of April compared to the same time last year.
In an interim management statement, UTV said that revenue in its radio Ireland division fell by 5% and it said that it expected that this trend will continue in May and June. UTV owns Dublin's FM104 and Q102, Cork's 96FM and C013, Limerick's Live 95FM and LMFM in the Louth-Meath area.
Revenue in its radio GP division rose by 4% compared to the same time last year, but the company said it expects revenue in May and June to be 9% lower than last year by reflecting the negative effect of the World Cup comparison.
UTV said that revenue in its television division rose by 8% in line with the ITV network. It is anticipated that this division will see revenue growth of 2% in May and a fall of 8% in June due to the World Cup comparison.
Revenue in the company's new media business is steady compared to last year, UTV added.
UTV said it was maintaining a cautious outlook for the rest of the year. 'Nonetheless, our television and radio divisions have had a good start to the year, outperforming in their respective markets and we are currently on track to meet market expectations for the year,' the company added.
