Hibernia College - Expansion overseas continues

Hibernia College is creating 25 jobs as it increases its workforce by 20% to meet growing international demand for its services.

Founded 11 years ago, the college is now the country's leading provider of online learning with postgraduate programmes in primary teaching, financial management and pharmaceutical medicine.

The college now educates over 7,000 students a year from 30 different countries. Its online students complete masters' degrees, higher diplomas and short term professional development courses.

It is continuing its expansion overseas and has developed partnerships with third level and government institutions in the UK, South Africa, European Union, Haiti and the US.

Meanwhile, there are fears for the future of around 75 jobs at the Cork Medical Centre in Mahon in Cork city centre.

A spokesperson for the centre said it had not been able to secure an agreement with VHI Healthcare for cover for its subscribers. Staff are due to be called to a meeting with management tomorrow morning.
