Valeo, which supplies components and systems to the auto industry, is to create up to 100 jobs in Tuam over the next three years in a €17m investment.
The company plans to expand it manufacturing and research activities at its Valeo Vision Systems (VVS) plant in Co Galway. IDA Ireland is backing the investment.
Valeo plans to target the camera market with the development of the next generation of new camera/vision systems and technologies for vehicle parking and manoeuvring. This investment programme follows VVS's launch of its first generation multi-camera systems on the market in 2008.
The Tuam business was originally established as Connaught Electronics Ltd before being bought in 2007 by Valeo, one of the world's top auto suppliers with operations in 27 countries.
