The chairman of the Public Accounts Committee has publicly criticised the Department of Finance's Secretary General, over his failure to provide information to the committee.

Committee chairman Bernard Allen said that two weeks ago, the Secretary General of the Department of Finance, Kevin Cardiff, had agreed to tell the committee the cost of servicing the debt involved in the bank bail-out within a few days.

He said that information had still not been provided, but it will be given to Opposition spokespersons this afternoon.

Mr Allen said the committee would not tolerate that attitude to the committee's work in the future. He said Mr Cardiff had given a commitment to provide the information and had failed to deliver on that.
