Convenience store chain Spar Ireland has reported record sales of €1.67 billion for 2007, up 15.7% on the previous year.
During the year, the company invested a total of €103m in its store network and opened 52 new shops.
This included the opening of its international flagship store at Spawell in Dublin, which has the country's first 'drive-thru' coffee facility.
Spar said it is on course to open over 40 new shops this year, with 16 having already started trading in the first four months of the year.
