Actor Michael Twomey remembered - watch the best of Cha & Miah

We're paying tribute to actor Michael Twomey, who has passed away aged 84, with a choice selection of his finest TV moments, courtesy of RTÉ Archives.

A key figure in the Cork theatre world, for many Twomey will be forever remembered for his role as Miah in the comedy duo Cha and Miah, performed with Frank Duggan and a staple of RTÉ comedy classic Hall’s Pictorial Weekly, which ran from 1971 to 1980.

"I’m telling you boy, the recession is as safe as houses..." Below, Cha (Duggan) and Miah (Twomey) discuss the state of the nation:

And there's more... "We’re the men that our mammies warned us against..." A drunken Cha and Miah take to the park to discuss the new year - watch it here.

"The feet is the last part of the body you looks at..." Cha and Miah take to a park bench to discuss a performance by Brazilian dancers at the Cork Opera House - watch it here.

In a satirical look at equal pay for women, a Hall’s Pictorial Weekly reporter (Duggan) asks Paddy Joe (Twomey) to give his opinion on what is wrong with the EEC - watch it here.

"You never ask no-one if they come from Cork..." "And why's that?" "Because if they do come from Cork, they'll tell you soon enough." In recent years, Twomey and Duggan revived Cha and Miah for live shows and the odd special occasion; here they are in 2013, discussing the Cork Gathering.
