Hughes & Hughes said today that a company called Sivota has bought five of its bookstores from receiver David Carson of Deloitte.

These shops include four in Dublin - the group's flagship store in St Stephen's Green shopping centre, its Dundrum Town Centre shop, its shop in the Omni shopping centre in Santry as well as its shop in the Pavilions shopping centre in Swords. The store in Ennis is also being bought.

The five shops have now re-opened with all 60 original employees being hired again by Sivota.

The receiver had been appointed to the Hughes & Hughes chain of bookstores in February, leading to the loss of 225 jobs at the company, which has been in business for 26 years.

Easons announced in March that it had secured the licence held by Hughes & Hughes to operate in Terminal 1 at Dublin Airport and at Cork Airport. 120 jobs were saved at the five units at Dublin Airport and two at Cork.
