71 jobs are to be lost at a mushroom growing plant in Belmullet in Co Mayo. Monaghan Mushrooms confirmed this evening that it is to close its plant in the town in the late summer.
It says all of the employees will be offered alternative jobs at other locations - including the company's headquarters in Tyholland in Co Monaghan.
The Drimbawn Mushrooms facility at Belmullet has been in operation under Monaghan Mushrooms for around six years.
Monaghan Mushrooms is one of the largest mushroom producers in Europe.
