Aer Lingus has said it needs Hangar 6 at Dublin Airport to carry out maintenance of its aircraft and that it is not willing to move to another location.
The airline also said that a 20-year lease agreement it has with the Dublin Airport Authority cannot be broken to allow another tenant to use the site.
Meanwhile, the Tánaiste has said that Shannon Development has also offered to accommodate Ryanair in an existing or new hangar. And she has repeated the government's offer to the airline to build a hangar for it at Dublin Airport.
But the UNITE trade union says the government is not doing enough. It said the Government should give Ryanair whatever it needs to create jobs and prevent them from being exported.
In a statement, Ryanair once again insisted it did not have a 'hidden agenda' to turn Hangar 6 into a terminal building. It says any such claims are false and that its only interest is in creating a heavy maintenance facility and 300 jobs.
