Aer Lingus' total passenger numbers in January rose by 0.6% compared with the same time last year to stand at 665,000 .
The airline said its short-haul passenger numbers were up 3.8% to 608,000 while long-haul passengers dropped by 23% to 57,000.
Its overall load factor in the month was 67.4%, an increase of 3.1 points compared to January 2009, as capacity fell by 10.7%.
Aer Lingus noted that due to the exceptionally bad weather in January, it saw a greater than normal difference between the number of its booked passenger numbers and flown passenger numbers due the flight cancelations.
