Budget Travel's liquidator has agreed to sell the company's trade name and intellectual property to Club Travel.

A statement said the sale was subject to approval by the Competition Authority. The sale price is not being disclosed.

The liquidator, Simon Coyle of Mazars, said he was delighted that the Budget Travel brand would be maintained and further developed by Club Travel.

'It was very important to me that we secured the sale of the brand to an operator with the experience and strength of Club Travel,' he added.

Budget Travel, established in May 1975, was the State's largest tour operator until it was wound up last November. It had 17 outlets and employed 172 people.
