RTÉ's McKevitt wins business journalist award

Three reporters from RTÉ were honoured today at the UCD Smurfit School Business Journalist Awards 2009.

Christopher McKevitt scooped first prize in the Business Broadcast category for his report about Bank of Ireland and the pay packet of the bank's then chief executive Brian Goggin.

Emma McNamara was named a finalist in the Business Broadcast category for her report, 'The King's New Clothes.'

RTÉ's Business Editor David Murphy was announced as a finalist in the Breaking Business News category for his piece on Irish Life and Permanent's €8 billon deposits to Anglo Irish Bank.

The awards reward excellence in Irish business journalism from print, broadcast and online media. Over 115 entries were received for the awards this year, across eight categories. They are now in their third year.

Other winners included journalists from the Sunday Independent, the Sunday Times and the Irish Independent.
