FÁS has announced that Paul O'Toole is to become the organisation’s new director general.

Mr O'Toole will succeed Rody Molloy in the position at the State training agency.

Mr Molloy resigned last November following allegations of excessive expenses incurred by FÁS executives.

Mr O'Toole, who holds a Master of Business Studies degree from the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business, has been Tourism Ireland’s chief executive since July 2001.

FÁS chairman Peter McLoone has said he is delighted with the appointment.

The Wicklow native is expected to take up his new post in the near future.
