The Department of Foreign Affairs has intervened in the row over the closure of aircraft maintenance firm SR Technics at Dublin Airport with the loss of more than 1,100 jobs.
Minister Micheál Martin has asked the Irish Ambassador in Saudi Arabia to bring the concerns of employees over the closure to the attention of the company's main shareholder in Abu Dhabi.
Workers at the company have disputed the view of the company's Swiss-based management that the Dublin operation is not viable.
They are also concerned about a potential pension shortfall, and what they see as inadequate redundancy payments.
They wrote to the Minister for Foreign Affairs Micheál Martin outlining their concerns about the closure of the operation by its Swiss management and the other 40% shareholder - Mubadala Developments. Mubadala Developments is a state investment vehicle wholly owned by the Government of Abu Dhabi.
