Official figures show that the volume of industrial production in June was up 6.6% on the same month last year. This was mainly due to a sharp rise in chemicals production.
But the three-month figure for the second quarter showed a drop of 3.3% compared with the first quarter of the year.
In June, the modern sector - comprising technology and chemical firms - recorded a 10.5% annual increase, while the traditional sector showed a drop of 3.8%.
