Enterprise Ireland says companies it supports have reported exports well in excess of the target set by the state agency.
Last year, Irish companies backed by Enterprise Ireland recorded exports worth over €13 billion. This figure represents nearly €1.5 billion in new export sales, making a total of nearly €4.5 billion in new export sales for the past three years, above the target of €3 billion.
Employment in Enterprise Ireland supported companies showed a net gain of 1,321.
CEO Frank Ryan said that, while the scale of the challenge for companies could not be underestimated, there was an 'underlying resilience' which gave cause for optimism. He pointed out that, last year, exports to the Americas grew by 11% despite the weakening of the dollar against the euro.
