Central Statistics Office figures show that the volume of industrial production in February was up 0.9% compared with the same month last year.
For the three months to February, there was a 2% rise compared with the previous three months to November.
The modern sector, which includes technology and pharmaceutical firms, showed a 3.2% annual increase in February, but production in the traditional sector dropped by 4.1%.
