A total of 108 jobs - 70 of them full-time - are to be lost in three Gaeltacht areas following the decision of a Scottish-based company to close down its operations in Ireland.
Údarás na Gaeltachta has confirmed that Contact 4 is closing its centres in Gweedore, Co Donegal, Dingle, Co Kerry and Achill, Co Mayo.
The company acted as a mortgage broker and has blamed the slump in the credit market for its closure. People who took out mortgages through Contact 4 will not be affected by the move. The company is also scaling down its operation in Glasgow, where 50 will be let go.
Údarás na Gaeltachta says it is confident of finding replacement businesses for the three Gaeltacht centres.
