Topaz Energy, the group which bought out more than 300 Shell and Statoil filling stations between 2005 and 2006, is to re-brand them as part of a €50m investment programme.
Removing the names of Shell and Statoil from the forecourts and replacing them with Topaz will be one of the largest consumer re-branding exercises in this country in recent years.
Topaz says the move will create 400 new jobs. The new name will appear on 350 service stations, 100 convenience stores, seven sea terminals and the company's commercial and aviation fuels business.
The €50m investment also covers the acquisition and development of sites for a number of new shops and service stations. The first two Topaz branded service stations opened today at Dublin Port and Citywest.
