ESB arm wins South Africa contract

ESB International and the South African electricity company Eskom have signed a new contract at Eskom's headquarters in Johannesburg during the Enterprise Ireland trade mission to South Africa.

Under the €4.5m contract, ESBI will provide engineering consultancy services in the construction of an additional 1,000 megawatts of generation capacity at the recently commissioned power plants in the Western Cape of South Africa.

ESBI currently has a team of consultants in Johannesburg and Cape Town planning this project, which is due for completion by the end of 2009 to ensure supply for the World Cup the following year.
