Airbus has won its first-ever order from Hawaiian Airlines, with an outline contract for six of its new A350 extra wide body long-haul jets.
US carrier Hawaiian, which had not previously bought from European giant Airbus, had also ordered six A330-200 aircraft.
The contract is an agreement in principle at this stage and at catalogue prices would be worth about €2.2 billion.
The A330 planes will be delivered from 2012 and the A350s from 2017. Both will be powered by Rolls Royce jet engines.
