Northern Rock - More emergency funding

The Bank of England has lent Northern Rock almost £3 billion in emergency funds in the past week as it struggles to find a new owner, according to reports.

The extra borrowing means Northern Rock has borrowed as much as £10.7 billion since it came close to collapse three weeks ago.

The Bank of England offered emergency funding to the bank on September 14.

The Bank of England and Northern Rock have refused to comment on how much the central bank has lent.
