Official figures show that unemployment in the euro zone held steady in August for the third month running at a record low of 6.9%.
The rate, which the EU's Eurostat agency adjusted to take seasonal variations into account, is the lowest on Eurostat's books going back to 1993.
Unemployment has gradually eased since peaking at 8.9% at the end of 2004, as the economy gathers pace.
