Fruit group Fyffes and its European joint venture partner Weichert are facing questions from the EU's Competition Commission over the supply of bananas to a number of countries in northern Europe.
They have received Statements of Objections from the Commission alleging infringements of competition law.
The move follows inspections carried out by the European Commission at the premises of Fyffes and Weichert in early June 2005 and subsequent requests for information.
At the time, the Commission said it had raided banana and pineapple producers and distributors in Ireland, Germany, Belgium and Britain over concerns about price-fixing and market sharing.
In a statement, Fyffes said it had fully complied with requests for information and would respond to the Commission's findings.
