Investment firm KBC Asset Management (KBCAM) said today its 'water fund' has attracted over €600m investment in under two months.
The fund invests in water treatment technology companies, engineering and consulting firms, as well as environmental control.
Sean Hawkshow, CEO, said eco investment is no longer a narrow specialist field of investment but has gone mainstream, as climate change creates new risks and opportunities.
'Alternative investments particularly in the areas of energy and water are rapidly becoming a mainstream choice and instead of increasing risk it can actually reduce it as part of a well diversified pension fund', he said.
The firm also said that Calvert, the largest provider of socially responsible investment mutual funds in the US, has appointed KBCM as a sub-advisor for its alternative energy strategy.
