The Aer Lingus website aerlingus.com has been out of action for a number of hours today.
A spokesperson said the problem arose as a result of a large volume of traffic following a seat sale announced this morning.
Aer Lingus is hoping that the site will be back completely this afternoon. Around 70% of the airline's bookings are made over the website.
