Shares in ferries group Irish Continental closed up 50 cent at €20.75 in Dublin on Tuesday evening.
This is well above the €20 level at which shipping company Doyle Group and One51 last week indicated they could make an offer. But it is understood the two companies have bought shares at €20.50 since then.
It was confirmed in a statement to the stock exchange that One51 now holds 10.5% of ICG, while Doyle Group has almost 8%.
