Figures from the Central Statistics Office show that prices at the factory gate fell by 0.6% in February, following a sharp rise in January. This means prices have fallen by 1.6% over the past 12 months.
The main factors in February's drop were a 1% fall in chemicals prices and a 2.5% decline in the office machinery and computers category.
Wholesale prices of building materials rose by 0.1% in the month, while energy products were up 0.3%. Petroleum fuels prices were 1.1% higher.
