The Financial Regulator earlier this week called on financial institutions to be more transparent about fees which are being charged to people cashing their SSIAs.
It has emerged that investors with equity SSIAs, which invest in shares, are being charged 3% to withdraw the money from a fund.
But the Irish Association of Investment Managers says consumers were alerted to the existence of the fees which in some cases can be €600 or more.
