AIB branches - More sale deals possible

AIB has announced plans for the sale and lease-back of 12 of its Dublin branches. All 12 will be leased back to AIB and will continue to operate normally as branches.

Advertisements for the sales, which are being handled by Hamilton Osborne King, are to appear in the newspapers on Friday. The 12 branches are expected to fetch around €80m in total.

AIB has already announced a similar deal for its headquarters in Ballsbridge in Dublin and may consider doing the same with more branches. The sale and lease-back deals are aimed at freeing up capital to enable AIB to satisfy strong demand for lending.

The 12 branches covered by the latest deal are: Artane; Clonskeagh Road; Crumlin Road; Dame Street; Morehampton Road; Drumcondra; Dundrum; Dun Laoghaire; 37/38 O'Connell Street; Ranelagh; Stillorgan; and Tallaght.
