A poll has shown that consumer sentiment in Germany is continuing to improve, with households increasingly willing to spend as the economy picks up and their personal financial situation improves.
The consumer sentiment index calculated each month by market research group GfK is set to rise to 6.8 points in June from a revised 5.8 in May, GfK said in a statement.
'With the long winter coming to an end, the consumer mood is noticeably brighter,' the think-tank said.
'The low of recent years finally seems to be over and the propensity to buy indicator reached a historic high in May,' GfK said. It added that trust in a positive development of the German economy had also increased considerably. Personal income expectations have also improved slightly.
