Thousands head to the RDS where a range of equestrian events take place at annual the Dublin Horse Show.

The 5th August 1965 was Ladies Day at the Dublin Horse Show in the RDS. The large crowds were treated to a variety of events, dressage, horse and hounds, show jumping and pony riding.

RTÉ News spoke to Mrs Cockburn about the increase in the number of children competing in events  and the types of pony.

There are a great many ponies which most children will have a great deal of fun on going hunting in.  And this pony is inclined to be over well-bred, over hotted-up, over thoroughbred, which is perhaps a stupid way to put it, because a thoroughbred with good manners, there is nothing like it.
