Ireland international Rob Herring is expected to be fit to face Leinster this weekend in the Guinness Pro14, but Alan O'Connor and James Hume will be absent after sustaining concussions in the defeat to Connacht.

Ulster head coach Dan McFarland couldn't hide his disappointment at the nature of his side’s 26-20 defeat last weekend at the Aviva Stadium, and the challenge will be even greater on Saturday when they face a Leinster side unbeaten this season and buoyed by their two-point win over Munster.

Hooker Herring sustained a chest wall injury in training last week and missed out on the post-lockdown defeat, but the coaching team are expecting the 30-year-old to be available for selection.

O’Connor and Hume will follow the return-to-play protocols after both suffered concussions against Connacht.
