American fighter Jessica McCaskill has called out newly crowned world champion Katie Taylor for a world title fight, which she hopes will take place before the end of the year.
Taylor captured the WBA lightweight belt at the end of October, following her victory against Argentina's Anahi Esther Sanchez, and McCaskill is pipped as the favourite to be Taylor's opponent in her first title defence.
The Bray native is expected to return to the ring on 15 December, and according to fight promoter Eddie Hearn, she wants to face McCaskill in that bout.
The 33-year-old has a fight record of (5-1), while Taylor remains undefeated after seven fights in the professional ranks.
Speaking to Sky Sports, McCaskill said: "I've been after her for a while and I want it as soon as possible, before the end of the year.
"I have no problem going over to the United Kingdom. I have been ready to travel outside of America for a while. It is difficult for me to get fights, because people just don't want to fight me.
"Taylor is a world champion and probably the one name over here that is supposed to want to fight anyone, so let's see.
"I am ready to fight. My power is something no one knows about, but you will see. I want to become the best in the world, not just America."
Beyond that fight,Taylor is also planning to get a homecoming bout in Dublin next year, where she hopes to become a unified champion.
