Ciara Mageean and Kevin Dooney will lead a strong Irish team of 39 athletes at the SPAR European Cross Country Championships on 9 December in the Netherlands.
Mageean (UCD) and Dooney (Raheny Shamrock) will lead the senior teams at the event in Tilburg having won respective titles at the Irish Life Health National Cross Country Championships on Sunday. For Mageean, it was her first National Senior Cross Country title.
Mick Clohisey is also included in the senior men's team after winning the Irish Athletics National Marathon in Dublin last month, and will be joined by Sean Tobin, Kevin Maunsell and Stephen Scullion.
Fionnuala Ross, Michelle Finn, Sara Treacy and Kerry O'Flaherty are named in the women's senior team along with Mageean.
National U23 champion Brian Fay (Raheny Shamrock) and American-based Ryan Forsyth (Newcastle) will lead a strong U23 men’s team having finished 11th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships last week.
Meanwhile, the U20 women's team is expected to be in a strong position for medals and will be led by Sarah Healy (Blackrock) who won double gold over 1500m and 3,000m at the European U18 Athletics Championships last summer.
She will be joined by Sophie O’Sullivan (Ballymore Cobh) who won silver over 800m at that same event.
