Ciara Mageean won her first National Senior Cross Country title at Abbotstown today with a narrow but decisive victory over Letterkenny’s Annmarie McGlynn.

After a spell at altitude training less than a month ago in the French Alps, Mageean looked strong throughout, taking the lead just after halfway.

Although McGlynn slightly narrowed the gap, Mageean looked to have the race under control over the closing stages.
