A man, who was seriously injured in an incident near the Armagh/Louth border last weekend, has died in hospital.

The incident took place in the vicinity of Edenappa Road outside Jonesborough in the early hours of last Saturday morning.

The man, aged in his 40s and understood to be from north Louth, sustained serious head injuries as a result of the incident.

Police in Northern Ireland have said a post-mortem examination will be carried out on the body of the deceased in due course.

They have said that investigations remain ongoing and have re-appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The PSNI particularly want to speak to anyone with CCTV or other footage that could assist them with their investigation.

Three men, aged 27, 34 and 42, were previously arrested in connection with the investigation but have all since been released on bail to allow police to conduct further enquiries.
